The Russian Imperial Foundation for Cancer Research

The Russian Imperial Foundation for Cancer Research is a newly established charity founded by the H. I. H. Grand Duke George of Russia under the patronage of the Head of the Imperial House, H. I. H. The Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, for the purpose of raising funds for the research and development of treatments related to cancer, the largest cause of death in Russia. Cancer research is an international endeavour, however non-governmental funding is crucial to support the participation of the best scientists from each country. The lack of large well organised charitable support has disadvantaged Russian researchers, and the goal of the Foundation is to remedy this.

The Foundation aims to raise and distribute funds to be used for the advancement of research projects and initiatives. Allocation of financial grants is conducted subject to the approval of the Medical Advisory Board, made up of internationally recognised experts in the field of cancer research and treatment.

The Foundation is registered with the UK Charities Commission (Registered Charity No. 1149511) and is a member of both the Institute of Fundraising and the Fundraising Standards Board.
